Still putting up the good fight...

He could have died yesterday, but he's still alive. His body has been through so much-he is hurting, sedated and on a ventilator-but he still tried to open his eyes and smile for a picture. It brought tears to my eyes, so I thought I should share this.

  4. Beautiful smile! I witnessed one of those smiles after my son had been on the vent for 6 months. It's the most wonderful feeling in the whole wide world isn't it!? :0)

  10. Quick Hit - We've had a rough couple of days. He's working on trying to be more independent but his pain isn't well managed yet and he still doesn't know exactly what's going on. So part of it is being sedated and part of it is being headstrong 7 yr old boy. This has been the longest recovery we've had. He is usually up and at least trying to walk by now. Still issues with his oxygen and lab results.

  11. Dearest Isaiah, I just know you'll be up and running in no time. I had a vision just this morning of you & Travis running and playing and swimming without tubes or bags or backpacks. I don't know who's stronger: the family or the patient! Hang in there, little guy. Travis sends his love, as do all of us here in the Leaton/Bergquist family. Love you!!
